Zugspitze is the obvious first peak for Germany. It is the country's highest point and one of the easiest major Alpine summits for non-climbers to experience, thanks to cable car and cog railway access from the German side. Hikers and mountaineers can also approach by demanding routes through the Hoellental, Reintal, or Austrian side, while casual travelers come for the panorama across the Wetterstein, Ammergau, Karwendel, and Austrian Alps.
